How to find what you want
No, not in life, just on this site. The site has been designed to make it easy for you to find what you are looking for, in a variety of ways to suit your preferences.
Categorised Information
The majority of information on the site is categorised under one or more 'topics' which are listed in the Information menu down the left hand side of the page. Where an article applies to more than one topic it will appear in all relevant topics. Sometimes this can lead to the user finding themselves in the 'wrong' topic according to the 'breadcrumbs' because the system has decided to display an alternative topic to the one in which the article was originally found - don't worry, it only takes a click to get back to where you want to be: just it the back button on your browser.
Breadcrumbs
'Breadcrumbs' is the name given to the display above the article which shows the menu and sub-menu trail that has been followed to get to the article (like a trail of breadcrumbs so you can find your way back!). You can use the breadcrumbs to navigate back up the menu structure as an alternative to clicking on a topic within the menu on the left-hand side.
Search
The search facility at the top of the right-hand section of the page searches all content within the site, and displays a list of articles containing the keyword(s).
The search term is highlighted each time it occurs, when the results are displayed.
Search returns results under 3 tabs: Content (i.e. articles), uiforum (the User Forums), and Users (information held in user profiles).
Once the search facility has been invoked, the Advanced Search function becomes available, to refine search results.
Basic Search only returns words which exactly match the word or words entered. Wildcards are not permitted. If your search does not give the result you expect, try using the plural of the word.
Free Tags
Many articles are 'tagged' with a list of tags or keywords, which are listed after the authoring information at the top of the article. You can click on a tag to display a list of other articles with the same tag.
As a rule, the plural of a word is used rather than the singular: so look for 'cars' rather than 'car'.
Tag Cloud
The tag cloud at the foot of the right-hand menu displays all tag words for articles. The more times the tag has been used, the bigger the font used for that word in the tag cloud. So in effect the tag cloud show the most popular terms used as tags.
Recent Additions
If you just want to see what has been added to the site since your last visit, click on Recent additions, on the left-hand menu.
